Long exposure squares

The first exposure has started on 2nd October in a forest. After half a year I will go and see what the square has been exposed to and document it again. I will make such squares in other places too, in different cities, and see what kinds of litter the squares will gather in 6 months. Funny thoughts while "cleaning up" in a forest come to mind, like: it makes no sense to speak of litter in a forest because every fallen needle actually is part of the forest and belongs there. But I decided that the moss was the basic layer and then removed everything else from it.

Padda de Footh besökte högstadiet i Åbo och gjorde små skisser i lera av skollivet. Skisserna utsattes för tummanden utanför matsalen, och det var flera som tummade på verken. Mest tummanden fick rektangeln från en mattelektion som PdF besökte.

Vad funderar du? Mitä mietit?

Under 2015 vill jag på olika sätt samla spår av människors tankar i lera. Jag vill också leka med "tummandets" fenomen. Ämnar på olika sätt be folk rista in sina tankar eller "tumma" någon av ler-smileysen som jag erbjuder.
Nedan: smileys och mjuk lera i en skottkärra utanför Tövsala bibliotek, 20.3.2014. De flesta som svarade, alltså tummade, var arga på någonting.

Barn fick berätta sina egna favoritord som skrevs upp och sedan användes på nästa ställe. Så fick t.ex. barnen i Iniö skola smaka på tyska barns favoritord och orden från Iniö bjöds ut under Poesiveckan i Åbo.

What do words taste like?

Poems in Finnish and Swedish were exhibited together with words from the poems as bisquits. People could taste the words and also decorate bisquits with their own favourite words. Interesting interaction when some people wanted to leave their own words for others to eat, for instance "happiness" and "tree of life".

Is there a connection between digesting a book and digesting food?

The project was a co-operation with 20 pupils from St. Olof Middle school in Turku and librarians from Turku City Library. The pupils and librarians were asked to document their own reading habits: what they eat when they read a book or watch a film, how and where they sit.
